I guess the new Obama campaign strategy is to attempt to hypnotize the entire voting populous and see if the voodoo that can be worked will get people to call black white and white black, and yellow red and red yellow.

How else can this president, stand before the nation, and utter these magnificently ignorant words?

(While fielding a question in Friday’s press conference:)
Question: What about the Republicans saying that you’re blaming the Europeans for the failures of your own policies?

President Obama: The truth of the matter is that, as I said, we created 4.3 million jobs over the last 27 months, over 800,000 just this year alone.

The private sector is doing fine. Where we’re seeing weaknesses in our economy have to do with state and local government. Oftentimes cuts initiated by, you know, Governors or mayors who are not getting the kind of help that they have in the past from the federal government and who don’t have the same kind of flexibility as the federal government in dealing with fewer revenues coming in.

And so, you know, if Republicans want to be helpful, if they really want to move forward and put people back to work, what they should be thinking about is how do we help state and local governments and how do we help the construction industry? Because the recipes that they’re promoting are basically the kinds of policies that would add weakness to the — to the economy, would result in further layoffs, would not provide relief in the housing market, and would result, I think most economists estimate, in lower growth and fewer jobs, not more.

At the end of the day (this election cycle) historians and campaign staffers will look back and ask, “Where did the losing candidate in 2012 go wrong?”

If Barack Obama is that losing candidate you can point to June 8, 2012 as the moment he lost it.

The level and depth of how bad this thinking is runs deep.

Arguments can be had over whether his policies, or the European crisis, or any number of other elements of this soundbyte are true or not. But in the end it is that statement that the “private sector is doing fine,” that reveal the dead give-away.

Because the number of people actively counted by the unemployment numbers (total pool of people) has shrunk (due to people giving up looking) the real unemployment number as we sit here today is close to 14%. The underemployment by the average family is close to 25%.

Those aren’t ALL public workers…

Nor should they be… nor should we let them be…

Our economy MUST be driven by the private sector. Roads would be better built if private contractors built them. Education would be better if the entire educational system was private sector. Delivery of packages is always better and more efficient when privatized. GOD FORBID we let government anywhere near our medical care.

But again, those are all arguments to be had on other levels.

Nothing excuses the president’s abject, palpable either dishonesty or ignorance… and either one is MORE than reason enough to send him a one way ticket back to Chicago in November.
